佛德列．芬奈爾 (Dr. Frederick Fennell)
在半個世紀的指揮生涯中，他獻身於管樂團及管樂音樂中，留下輝煌紀錄。甚至
於交響樂、歌劇的領域中他也有過傑出的成就，兼長傳統與流行的音樂。
他最為世人所熟知的是於1952年創立伊士曼管樂團 (Eastman Wind Ensemble)。
其中交由水星唱片公司 (Mercury Records) 所出版之20張唱片，可說是本世紀管
樂演奏的先鋒，成就了他不朽的地位，後來和克里夫蘭管樂團合作的唱片也很成
功。
Frederick Fennell曾指導過相當多北美各地的管樂團，和東京佼成管樂團及其它
樂團灌錄不同風格型態專輯唱片，他獲得了國家管樂打擊藝術學術獎等多項獎項。
同時也是國家交響樂團協會榮譽會員之一。
Fennell除了指揮東京佼成交響樂團外，也在Interlochon藝術節指導研究班學
生，且為管樂團編輯樂譜，著作新的曲目，具代表性的 有“Time and the
Winds”，和一系列的“基本管樂團曲目之研究、演出評論”，是本世紀推展管樂
團、及管樂音樂的世界級大師。1991年創辦二年一度的Frederick Fennell國際青
年指揮競賽
