蒂埃里·梅什勒出生于1962年,在法国米卢斯家乡开始学习钢琴与管风琴,后赴法国斯特拉斯堡,在国家地区音乐学院跟随海伦·博斯基学习钢琴,随丹尼尔·罗斯学习管风琴。
1981年,他以最高赞誉摘得“巴黎国际大赛”一等奖;1984年赴巴黎师从玛丽-克莱尔·阿兰,相继获得金牌与评审团特别赞誉的卓越一等奖;1986年,他在即兴演奏领域获大奖,并在巴黎玛丽-克莱尔·阿兰的演奏班中以评审团赞誉摘得技巧一等奖。
他亦随雅克·塔代伊研习即兴创作艺术,并在米卢斯作曲比赛中荣获荣誉奖章。1991年,他以作曲家身份加入法国作曲家、词作者与出版商协会(SACEM);同年,因国际职业生涯与众多录音作品,获德国德累斯顿“欧洲促进奖”。
作为欧洲众多管风琴音乐节的常客,他亦以知名教育家与评委身份,每年受邀至德国、英国、芬兰、爱尔兰、美国、韩国及法国的多所学院开设大师班,录制有多张管风琴与钢琴专辑。
1991至1999年,他担任法国里昂圣若望主教座堂首席管风琴师,并兼任里昂莫里斯·拉威尔音乐厅管风琴(原为卡瓦耶-科尔为特罗卡德罗宫打造)的管理人与演奏家。1995年,梅什勒以著名的十二场系列独奏会演绎巴赫管风琴全集。
1998年,他演奏了维耶纳全部六首交响曲。作为国际比赛评委,同年他出任德国科隆大学(高等音乐学院)管风琴与即兴创作教授。2002年起,他担任科隆爱乐乐团著名的管风琴师与管理人。
梅什勒以管风琴家与钢琴家身份活跃于全球舞台,被誉为充满激情的演奏家与即兴创作者。作为作曲家,他的《基于B.A.C.H的六次变形》作品14号于2009年1月在科隆爱乐厅首演。2012年,他在绍恩贝格巴赫音乐节演奏了全套《平均律键盘曲集》48首前奏曲与赋格。2016年,为庆祝科隆爱乐厅成立30周年,他参与由弗朗索瓦-格扎维埃·罗斯指挥的古尔策尼希管弦乐团与尤卡-佩卡·萨拉斯特指挥的WDR交响乐团合作的维托·祖拉伊《I-FORMATION》全球首演,该作品为双管弦乐团与管风琴独奏而作。

Thierry Mechler was born in 1962. He started piano and organ lessons in his home town of Mulhouse, France and then went on to Strasbourg, France where he studied piano with Helene Boschi and organ with Daniel Roth at the Conservatoire National de Région.
In 1981, he won first prize with highest congratulations at the “Concours International de Paris.” In 1984, he went to Paris to study with Marie-Claire Alain, where he won, in succession, a gold medal and a first prize of excellence with congratulations from the jury. In 1986, he won a laureate in improvisation and a first prize for virtuosity with congratulations from the jury in the concert class from Marie-Claire Alain in Paris.
He also studied the art of improvisation with Jacques Taddei, and won the medal of honour at the composition competition in Mulhouse. In 1991 he was accepted in the S.A.C.E.M. (Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music) as composer; also in 1991, he received the Europäischen Förderpreis in Dresden, Germany as an award for his international career and his many recordings.
He is regular performer at numerous European Organ Festivals. As a renowned teacher and juror, he is invited every year to Germany, England, Finland, Ireland, USA, Korea, and France to give masterclasses in various academies. He has made many recordings as both organist and pianist.
Titular organist of the Cathedral Primatial Saint-Jean in Lyon, France from 1991 until 1999, curator and organist of the organ of the Auditorium Maurice Ravel in Lyon, an instrument previously built by Cavaillé-Coll for the Trocadéro Palace. In 1995, Thierry Mechler performed the complete organ works of J. S. Bach in a famous series of twelve recitals.
In 1998, he performed all Six Vierne Symphonies. Member of the Jury of international Competitions, in 1998 Thierry Mechler became Professor for Organ and Improvisation at the University (Musikhochschule) in Cologne, Germany. Since 2002, Thierry Mechler has been organist and a curator of the prestigious Philharmonie of Cologne.
Thierry Mechler’s career has taken him worldwide – both as organist and pianist. He has built a reputation as an exciting performer and improviser. Fêted also as a composer, his ” 6 Métamorphoses on B.A.C.H ” Opus 14 was performed at the Philharmonie of Cologne in January 2009. In 2012, he played all 48 Preludes ans Fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier of J.S. Bach at the Bach Festival in Schauenberg. In 2016 he participated on the 30th anniversary of the Philharmonie in Cologne, with the world premiere audition of ” I-FORMATION ” for two orchestras and organ solo by Vito ZURAJ, with the Gürzenich orchestra, conducting by Francois-Xavier Roth and the Symphonic WDR orchestra conducting by Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
